In August 2020, Microstrategy invested $250 000 000 in Bitcoin (BTC) as a treasury reserve asset. The company said the decision was driven by declining cash returns, a weakening dollar (USD) and other macroeconomic factors. It subsequently continued making large BTC purchases and is currently the largest single holder of the digital currency.

Who is Michael Saylor?
