How do you add a new network to Metamask?

Metamask is arguably the most popular non-custodial wallet compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). Although it supports any EVM-compatible network, its settings contain only a short list of preconfigured networks. Users therefore often ask: “How do I add a network to Metamask?” If you already have the required RPC settings for a network, adding it manually is straightforward.

Setting up a new network in Metamask

1. Click the network selector at the top of your wallet.

2. Click “Add network”.

3. In the browser tab that opens, click “Add a network manually” and fill in all fields with the required network settings:

  • Network name (a name that the user can change as desired).
  • New RPC URL (the RPC endpoint for the required network).
  • Chain ID (the blockchain identifier).
  • Currency symbol (the currency symbol or ticker, such as ETH, BNB or AVAX).
  • Block explorer URL (a link to the blockchain explorer).

Recently added networks

Where can you find the settings for the network you want to add to Metamask? There are two options: 1. Find the settings in the blockchain documentation on the platform’s official website (which can often be difficult); 2. Bookmark this page to keep the required network settings readily available in the list below:

      What is Metamask?

Metamask is the most popular Ethereum wallet currently available. Support for the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) allows any EVM-compatible network to be added, including Avalanche, BNB Chain, Fantom, Polygon, zkSync and many others. The wallet supports sending and receiving ERC-2, ERC-20, ERC-223, BEP-2, BEP-20 and similar tokens. Metamask recently added support for NFTs, allowing users to view, manage and interact with their NFT tokens.
