Katana Inu has launched into early access

On October 22, 2026, early access launched for the game Katana Inu. The development team describes this as the final major step before the game's full launch. Alongside the launch, Katana Inu confirmed it has an agreement to release the game on PlayStation 5 in its full version. No release date for the PS5 version was given.

The full-scale launch will not happen right away. According to the team, "the full release will come when the time is right and we have the right strategic partner to take Katana Inu to the next level". Until then, the studio says it is proceeding step by step to ensure smooth operation and to keep moving toward "gold" status.

To celebrate the start of early access, Katana Inu is holding its first community meetup. Players can expect a gameplay showcase, an inside look at the team's vision, and a preview of the game's future plans.

New competitive sessions will take place over the next few days. Players could register at register.katanainu.com to take part in the upcoming sessions on 1 at 1 and 3 at 3, and earn up to $100 in in-game rewards. Registration was limited to 18 hours after the announcement.

Earlier this month, the Katana Inu development team announced that early access would begin on October 22. At the same time, they stated that the game "is preparing for a full launch and plans to bring in publishing and strategic partners for a global release." No partners have been named so far.

In the game's description on Steam from ChainVision Games, which serves as both developer and publisher, the early access start date is also listed as October 22. The full version's release date is still listed as "Coming soon."

The new stage caps five years of development. Katana Inu launched its token KATA via IDO in December 2021, and the team has been developing the game ever since.

Katana Inu has gone through several stages of public testing. On June 30, 2025, the team opened the beta to all PC players with no registration, payment, or tokens required. It all started with five characters, one map, and rotating modes. Players could play as guests or connect a wallet via MetaMask or WalletConnect, which was only required for the marketplace and for creating NFT.

Public testing of the battle royale mode took place on January 20, 2026. In the spring, Katana Inu launched a demo on Steam from April 14 to May 10, 2026.

What is Katana Inu?

Katana Inu is a free-to-play third-person PvP game set in an anime-inspired world. The combat system is built around swordfighting and fast movement, using grappling hooks, double jumps, as well as character and weapon classes, each with their own unique abilities.

The game offers four main modes: 1-on-1 duels, 3-on-3 team battles, free-for-all matches, and battle royale. A training mode will help new players learn the basics. The game's Steam description states that it is not a "pay-to-win" game.

Katana Inu is split into two versions. The Steam client is the Web2 version, which can be played without a wallet and does not require NFT or blockchain. The Katana Inu launcher is the Web3 version, where players can use NFT and in-game earning features tied to KATA. NFT skins are purely cosmetic and never required to play. Web2 and Web3 characters may differ slightly.

KATA is a gaming token operating on the Ethereum, BNB Chain, and Base blockchains. It is used in the launcher for in-game transactions such as item crafting and upgrading. Owning KATA unlocks access to level rewards, seasonal bonuses, leveling up, and stat tracking, and players can earn KATA based on time spent in the game and skill level.

For PC, the game requires Windows 10 64-bit, an Intel i5 4-th generation processor or AMD FX 6300, 8 GB of RAM, and an GTX 1050 Ti graphics card. Console and mobile versions will come later, and a full release for PlayStation 5 has already been confirmed.
