Sony запускает инкубационную программу Soneium

Sony Group has launched a global blockchain project incubation program to support startups and creators of new entertainment services on its Soneium layer-2 network.

According to the October 29 announcement, the initiative, called the Sony Onchain Entertainment Incubation Program, will provide selected projects with technical resources, business development assistance, marketing support, and opportunities to collaborate with companies within the Sony Group.

The program is open to creators from around the world who want to develop entertainment products using blockchain technology. Sony is particularly interested in projects that combine digital content, fan communities, and digital assets to create new business models.

Selected participants will gain access to Soneium’s infrastructure and opportunities to connect with potential investors. Sony said this support will help developers turn their initial ideas into commercial products that people can actually use.

The company has been working on blockchain initiatives since 2024 and has already supported 43 projects through two previous incubation programs. Its latest initiative will focus specifically on the entertainment industry, including new ways for fans to support content creators, participate in communities, and engage with digital content.

The Sony Soneium program targets commercial entertainment projects

Under the new program, Sony is looking for startups and individual creators developing services that use blockchain technology to support entertainment activities.

Projects may include digital content ownership, community participation, or new revenue streams for creators. Sony is not limiting this initiative to any specific entertainment category, leaving room for a variety of applications built on the Soneium network.

For individual developers, the company plans to provide access to technical infrastructure, as well as help with business operations and marketing. Participants will be able to collaborate with Sony Group companies on joint projects and receive support in attracting potential customers and communities.

Another part of the program is fundraising opportunities, although the announcement does not specify a fixed investment amount and does not guarantee direct funding for every participant.

Sony said its main goal is to help projects go beyond technical development and create services that deliver practical benefits to users.

The company has already participated in similar projects through Soneium, including a gaming project incubation program launched in June 2025.

The initiative, known as Soneium For All, offered developers technical resources, funding opportunities, and user acquisition support. It was designed to help blockchain projects tackle the challenges of launching products, building awareness, and attracting customers.

Soneium expands into tokenized funding for entertainment content and creators

Sony’s new incubation program is a continuation of a series of developments related to the Soneium entertainment ecosystem.

Earlier this week, the Sony-backed network announced plans to create SONEIUM, a proposed native token designed to bring together content creators, developers, intellectual property owners, fans, and investors.

An announcement on October 26 laid out plans to issue tokenized entertainment products tied to music, anime, games, and other forms of creative work.

Soneium is developing an intellectual property tokenization initiative that will allow entertainment companies and creators to issue digital assets tied to specific projects. Depending on the structure, these assets could support fan participation, digital collectibles, or revenue-sharing schemes tied to commercial activity.

The network plans to launch its first project with Morisu, a character owned by Japanese entertainment company Super State Holdings. The proposed initiative would support activities related to merchandise sales, animation content, and licensing.

Soneium is preparing a dedicated portal where users will be able to explore entertainment projects and participate in their funding. Planned features include primary token sales, fan engagement tools, and royalty distribution.

The proposed SONEIUM token has not yet been issued, and the network has not announced a launch date, total supply, or distribution details.

Sony’s blockchain network builds entertainment partnerships

Soneium has already established partnerships with entertainment companies exploring blockchain-based ownership and funding models.

In September, the network signed a partnership agreement with South Korean entertainment company DayOneDream to develop tokenized products based on intellectual property through its WAVIST platform.

The partnership includes plans to bring K-pop industry assets and concert royalty streams to the Soneium platform. Earlier, in May, WAVIST completed the issuance, redemption, and burn of tokenized bonds containing intellectual property.

Soneium is developing the technical infrastructure needed to support such applications.

In September, the network also introduced OP Enterprise services from OP Labs to support blockchain operations, including monitoring, upgrades, and incident response.

The agreement includes a target of 99.9% uptime per month, while Soneium retains control over technology development and product decision-making.

Sony Group and Startale Group developed Soneium as an Ethereum-based layer-2 blockchain. Its mainnet launched in January 2025, and since then the network has attracted applications related to digital collectibles, entertainment, and consumer blockchain services.

In January 2026, Sony Ventures invested $13 million in Startale Group through the Sony Innovation Fund. At the time, Startale said Soneium had processed more than 500 million transactions and supported over 250 applications.

Sony’s investment activity includes entertainment startups using the network. In March, the Sony Innovation Fund announced an investment in YOAKE entertainment, a company developing an IRC application on the Soneium platform to support fan engagement and community building.
