The company Circle has entered into a partnership agreement with Tereina, backed by SAP, to integrate payments in USDC and EURC into SAP business software, starting with SAP Pay and SAP Cloud ERP.
Circle announced the agreement on October 7, stating that compliant companies will be able to send and receive payments in stablecoins through the applications they already use. USDC will serve as the preferred stablecoin for compliant dollar payments, while EURC will support euro operations.
The companies said that Arc, Circle's layer-1 blockchain, will become the preferred blockchain for initial payment processes. Tereina and Circle plan to launch value-confirmation programs for customers in the coming months before expanding adoption.
Circle integrates stablecoins directly into SAP Pay
The partnership ties Circle's stablecoins to SAP Pay, which Tereina uses as part of SAP Cloud ERP. As a result, finance departments can access payment features using supported stablecoins without moving transactions to a separate application.
SAP describes SAP Pay as an embedded payment service capable of handling both traditional payment systems and stablecoins such as USDC. The platform can execute payments and reconcile them against invoices or purchase orders within existing SAP workflows.
SAP Pay currently supports more than 40 currencies and 89 payment corridors. According to SAP, the product supports ACH transfers, bank transfers, checks, electronic money transfers, and stablecoin payments through a single connection.
SAP states that customers can use a pre-integrated Circle Mint account for payments in USDC. Payments are executed through SAP workflows, with companies retaining control over the timing, currency, and method of payment.
In its October 7 announcement, Circle extended the scheme to EURC for euro operations meeting the established criteria. The companies did not disclose information about the participating customers, expected payment volumes, or the timeline for full commercial rollout.
SAP provides the partnership with access to an extensive corporate network
The companies presented SAP's corporate-sector reach as a central element of the agreement. Circle's press release states that the integration touches the SAP ecosystem, which is linked to 84% of global trade.
SAP's July 2026 newsletter, regardless of the source of the information, states that the company's customers account for 84% of total global trade turnover. The document notes that 99 of the 100 largest companies in the world use SAP products, and 86 use SAP S/4HANA.
SAP introduced SAP Pay as part of its strategy to integrate payment processing directly into its cloud-based ERP system. According to the company, the system can execute and reconcile payments within the same workflow when an invoice comes due, reducing the amount of manual file processing and dependence on external services.
SAP documentation concerning stablecoins states that enterprises can connect their ERP system to blockchain-based payment systems and process payments around the clock. The company advertises virtually instant settlement, although actual settlement times may depend on the blockchain, the service provider, and the transaction itself.
Arc will be the preferred blockchain for use
Arc provides the partnership with a blockchain built specifically on the foundation of Circle's stablecoin infrastructure.
Circle launched the Arc mainnet on September 16. The network uses USDC for transaction fees and was launched with the participation of more than 100 institutional investors and ecosystem participants. Circle's founding validator group includes Mastercard, Visa, BlackRock, DTCC, Standard Chartered, ICE and other financial companies.
The Arc launch was previously reported to feature deterministic settlement in fractions of a second, a transaction fee in USDC, and support for more than 20 fiat-backed stablecoins. Eleven institutional validators initially participated in securing the network.
Since then, Circle has expanded the list of assets that can move through its cross-chain infrastructure linked to Arc. Circle's cross-chain transfer protocol now supports transfers of EURC and cirBTC on certain Arc routes alongside USDC.
The partnership with Tereina does not require every SAP Pay transaction to be processed on Arc. Circle named Arc as the preferred blockchain platform, while SAP Pay supports multiple payment systems and allows enterprises to retain control over payment methods.
