Cryptocurrency exchange MEXC has announced plans to discontinue providing services to users in Russia and Belarus. Customers from these countries will receive individual instructions on closing positions and withdrawing funds.
In a statement dated 20 October, MEXC explained the decision by global compliance efforts and said that users who have not received a notification may continue trading in accordance with the existing terms of service.
The exchange has not set a public deadline for completing fund withdrawals or closing positions. Instead, account holders subject to the restrictions will receive notifications explaining the procedures and timelines that apply to them.
MEXC stated that customer assets remain protected throughout the process, although its announcement does not specify how many accounts are affected or when the discontinuation of services will be completed.
“Your assets remain safe,” the exchange said in its statement.
Customers who have not received a termination notice may continue using the platform's trading services, provided it complies with the terms. This announcement does not mean that all registered customers in Russia and Belarus will immediately lose access.
The company has been redirecting users with questions about the status of their accounts to its customer support service. It warned customers about phishing links and impersonation attempts, stating that its representatives would never ask for passwords, seed phrases, payments, or asset transfers via direct messages.
