Ordinals and Runes supporters call on OpenSea for integration

Supporters of Bitcoin Ordinals and Runes have renewed calls for native trading on OpenSea after Leonidas shared a comment attributed to a company marketer stating that community feedback helps shape product development plans.

In posts on October 21 and 22, Leonidas urged collectors to voice their interest and directly asked OpenSea to support both asset types. His posts featured an image of collections displayed in the OpenSea interface and a separate promotional graphic demonstrating trading support.

“Please add support for ordinals and runes.”

The request initiated a public campaign for integration. None of the screenshots contain an official OpenSea announcement confirming native trading of ordinals and runes, an approved integration, or a release date.

OpenSea supporters push for integration

In his October 21 post, Leonidas reproduced a statement attributed to an OpenSea marketer who urged people wanting Ordinals to keep requesting them. The quoted statement said community feedback “largely influences our product development roadmap.”

The screenshot lacks the original post and the full conversation regarding this remark. The text describes how feedback influences product-related decisions without promising that Bitcoin support is planned.

Alongside the statement, Leonidas shared an interface where Runestone featured prominently. Bitcoin Puppets and NodeMonkes appeared in the “Popular Ordinals Collections” section alongside Bitcoin Wizards and Taproot Wizards.

The image displays collection prices in BTC and activity data but does not show completed purchases or bitcoin transactions. Thus, the collection’s visibility in this screenshot remains separate from confirmation that a trading service is available.

In a second post on October 22, the direct request was accompanied by a graphic with the OpenSea logo reading: “Trading of ordinals and runes has begun!” Since Leonidas published the image while seeking support, it cannot be viewed as a company launch announcement.

OpenSea’s blockchain compatibility guide lists networks including Ethereum, Solana, Polygon, and Arbitrum, but Bitcoin is not included. An earlier explanation of Ordinals published in April 2023 explicitly states that users cannot buy Bitcoin Ordinals through OpenSea; that page is a historical document, not a new statement of development plans.
