Bybit Launches US Stock Trading

Bybit has launched trading in more than 1000 US stocks and exchange-traded funds for eligible users worldwide, allowing them to purchase securities with USDC directly from their exchange accounts.

According to the announcement dated 12 October, the service covers major US companies including Apple, Nvidia, Tesla and Micron Technology, as well as funds such as Invesco QQQ ETF.

Access is limited to users from permitted jurisdictions who have passed the required "Know Your Customer" verification. Orders are processed through Bybit's brokerage infrastructure and executed by Alpaca, a US broker-dealer providing self-clearing services and holding the underlying securities.

Unlike synthetic products or derivatives that track stock prices, the new service gives eligible clients an economic interest in the securities they purchase.

Stock trading on the Bybit platform offers fractional shares and round-the-clock access 5 days a week

Clients can buy and sell supported stocks and ETF using USDC from their Bybit accounts, with fractional shares available for eligible securities.

Trading is available around the clock, 5 days a week, covering pre-market, regular and after-market sessions in the US, although availability may vary depending on the security.

Bybit said it will not charge a commission on eligible stock purchases and sales. Users will be able to manage their stocks alongside crypto positions within the exchange's ecosystem.

The service supports corporate actions, including cash dividends, stock dividends and stock splits.

Cash dividends are converted from US dollars into USDC before being credited to clients' Unified Trading Accounts. Stock dividends and stock splits are reflected directly in their portfolio in accordance with the applicable terms for each security.

At the initial stage, some corporate actions may encounter limitations, and the question of shareholder voting rights is planned to be addressed at a later stage.

Ben Zhou, co-founder and CEO of Bybit, said the launch is part of the exchange's efforts to unite traditional and digital financial markets on a single platform.

"Financial markets have long been divided into different products and platforms, but users increasingly expect closer interconnection," Zhou said.

Alpaca handles trade execution and custody of stocks

The Bybit Stocks service is provided by Infra Capital Limited, an intermediary broker regulated by the Mauritius Financial Services Commission under license GB23202169.

Alpaca Securities LLC, operating under the Alpaca Clearing brand and a member of FINRA and SIPC, provides clearing, settlement and securities custody services in the US.

Yoshi Yokokawa, co-founder and CEO of Alpaca, said the partnership will help Bybit provide users worldwide with access to US stocks alongside its existing trading products.

Bybit, which according to its own figures serves more than 80 million users worldwide, already offers spot and derivatives crypto trading, access to the traditional market via MetaTrader 5, tokenized stocks and TradFi perpetual contracts.

Previously, the exchange introduced tokenized stock-based products through its IPO Express service, including investments in SpaceX.

Its work with traditional financial assets includes a partnership with Franklin Templeton, under which tokenized money market fund shares are used as collateral in trading.

Zhou said Bybit views the integration of traditional assets and crypto services as part of its long-term strategy, pointing to the company's existing work on tokenizing real-world assets.

Access to the stock trading service remains governed by the Bybit Stocks terms and conditions, jurisdictional restrictions and applicable risk disclosures. Investors may lose part of their invested capital.
